The Writing Center at Longwood 2020-22

        Assistant Director (21-22) & Consultant (20-22)

In spring, 2020, Amber was selected to be a consultant for the Writing Center at Longwood. The Writing Center Logo to the left was created by Amber using Canva with some creative direction from her coworkers. She also advocated for and lead a revision of their mission statement, which can be found here (TBA). Communication, personability, and project management skills are imperative for an excellent Writing Center consultant.

After demonstrating these skills, Amber was promoted to the Assistant Director of the Writing Center for the 2021 - 2022 school year. Her new role involved overseeing the Writing Center consultants and their projects, leading staff meetings, helping hire new consultants, and creating two employee handbooks (see Writing Samples section below).

        Community Service Organization 2020-22

        Director (21-22) & Director of Jobs (20-21)

In early 2021, COVID-19 was still a major concern. The Big Event, a community service-based organization, the executive team wanted to give back to the Farmville community in a safe way by organizing a donation drive for a local pregnancy support center and fundraising used to purchase dinner for local emergency room nurses.

In the following year, Amber oversaw The Big Event as the Director and strived to restore it back to its original one big day of community service. It was an especially large feat as very few members of the campus community and executive team had previously participated in a traditional Big Event.
