Allan Myers 2023 – Present
Proposal Coordinator
In November 2023, I joined the Allan Myers Proposal Management Team as a Proposal Coordinator. Writing is at the core of my responsibilities, where I craft clear and persuasive content that effectively communicates our value propositions. With a keen eye for detail, I meticulously edit proposals to ensure accuracy and coherence. My research skills have been a cornerstone to my everyday tasks as I continue to learn more about the design, engineering, and construction of heavy civil construction projects. Working closely with cross-functional teams, I thrive in collaborative environments, gathering input, incorporating feedback, and aligning on strategy to produce winning proposals that resonate with clients and stakeholders alike.
CoStar Group 2022 – 2023
Associate Research Consultant
Shortly after graduating from Longwood University, Amber joined the talented research team at CoStar Group in June 2022 as an Associate Research Consultant (formerly known as a Client Relationship Consultant). In this role, Amber researched various commercial real estate property data, including ownership information, sales comparable data, construction timelines, and much more. After being with CoStar for about six months, Amber was recognized for her research excellence when she received the November 2022 Rising Star Award. Amber's day-to-day tasks included cold-calling CRE professionals to verify research and advocating for CoStar and LoopNet product services that clients may not utilize. Walking clients through the product and demonstrating its value not only helped bridge relationships between Amber and clients but also increased customer satisfaction and product usage. Amber also supported her team in their Signature Ad curations by offering her editing skills in her role as Signature Ads captain.
Longwood Writing Center 2020 – 22
Consultant (20-22) & Assistant Director (21-22)
In spring, 2020, Amber was selected to be a consultant for the Writing Center at Longwood. The Writing Center Logo to the left was created by Amber using Canva with some creative direction from her coworkers. She also advocated for and lead a revision of their mission statement. Communication, personability, and project management skills are imperative for an excellent Writing Center consultant.
After demonstrating these skills, Amber was promoted to the Assistant Director of the Writing Center for the 2021 - 2022 school year. Her new role involved overseeing the Writing Center consultants and their projects, leading staff meetings, helping hire new consultants, and creating two employee handbooks (see Writing Samples section below).
Community Service Organization 2020 – 22
Director (21-22) & Director of Jobs (20-21)
In early 2021, COVID-19 was still a major concern. The Big Event, a community service-based organization, the executive team wanted to give back to the Farmville community in a safe way by organizing a donation drive for a local pregnancy support center and fundraising used to purchase dinner for local emergency room nurses.
In the following year, Amber oversaw The Big Event as the Director and strived to restore it back to its original one big day of community service. It was an especially large feat as very few members of the campus community and executive team had previously participated in a traditional Big Event. However, after thoroughly campaigning for the event and partnering with other student organizations, the Big Event 2022 was a success with more than 300 participants helping at about 35 different homes and locations in the community.
The Big Event team is hard at work planning.
